This is probably most easily with contextual alternates, as long as the string wouldn’t get broken by justification. Otherwise you would need a separate ligature for every length of hyphen sequence.4 -

An alternative way of using TypeCooker, rather than just automatically accepting the first brief it gives you, is to have it generate several, until you get one that seems interesting.3
